This Module applies when you subscribe to or use Genealogist Bot™ (the "Bot"), either as a set of Grok Bot instructions from Bot Dream Team™ or as the Genealogist Bot™ web membership from Bots On The Job™ (both run by CEAT LLC). It adds to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Under Section 22.8, if this Module conflicts with the main Terms, this Module controls for the Bot. Words with a capital letter mean what they mean in the main Terms.
F.1 What the Bot is. The Bot helps you research your own family history in free public records, keep a family tree file, chart and research log, and draft records-request letters. It is consumer family-history research only, and it uses public records only. Grok Bot version: a set of instructions and skills that runs inside your own Grok Bot, which you get and pay for separately from its owner (see Section 13). Digital products terms in Module E apply, including the license in E.1 and the restrictions in E.2. Web membership: our own Genealogist Bot™ does the research for you and posts the results on your private web page; you don't need Grok Bot.
F.1A Monthly membership. Both versions cost $29 a month (US dollars, plus any tax the law requires), billed through Stripe on the day you join and on the same day each month after that. Your membership renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time by emailing hello@botdreamteam.com (Grok Bot version) or hello@botsonthejob.com (web membership); cancellation stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. We don't give refunds or credits for partial months or unused time, except where the law requires otherwise. If we change the price, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then. Web membership scope: each paid month includes one research round on the ancestor or question you choose, a written report with sources, your updated tree file (GEDCOM) and chart, and up to two draft records-request letters, posted on your private page within 7 business days after that month's payment and your intake form are received.
F.2 No guaranteed results. We do not promise that the Bot will find any particular record, ancestor, relationship, date, place, origin, or answer, or that any archive will reply or have the record. Records may be lost, destroyed, restricted, incomplete, wrongly indexed, or not online. The Bot finds only what public records and the sources available to it allow. Section 9.4 applies.
F.3 AI output; check before you rely on it. The Bot uses AI. Its research summaries, evidence labels ("confirmed", "likely", "family story"), translations, transcriptions, charts and GEDCOM files may contain mistakes, including misread names, dates or places. You must check the cited sources yourself before you rely on, publish, or share any result (Section 9.2). An evidence label is the Bot's assessment, not a certification.
F.4 You send all letters and pay all fees. The Bot drafts letters and emails; it never sends them. You decide whether to send each one, you send it yourself, and you are responsible for what it says once sent. You pay, directly to the archive, registry, parish, agency or website, every fee, certificate charge, search fee, stamp duty, postage, translation or other cost. Fees, rules and response times are set by those third parties. We do not pay them, refund them, or guarantee them, and nothing you pay them is part of your payment to us.
F.5 Translations aren't certified. Letters written in another language and their English translations are drafts for your personal correspondence. They are not certified, sworn or official translations.
F.6 Living people: privacy and consent are your responsibility. You are solely responsible for any information you give the Bot, or put in your tree, about living people, and for getting each living person's consent where the law requires it or where they would reasonably expect to be asked. You are responsible for how you store, share and publish your tree and research, including on public tree sites. The Bot is designed to mark living people "Private" and not to research them, but you must not use it to locate, contact, profile or monitor any living person.
F.7 Not legal, DNA or other professional advice. The Bot and its output are general family-history information only. They are not legal, immigration, citizenship, inheritance, probate, property, medical or genetic advice, and they are not DNA analysis or DNA-match interpretation. The Bot does not do investigative or forensic work, and you must not use it for those purposes. No output is proof of identity, descent, relationship, heirship or eligibility for anything. Section 9 applies.
F.7A Genealogy records only; not DNA. Both versions of the membership cover research in public genealogy records only, such as census, civil and vital records, church registers, immigration and passenger records, and newspapers. They do not include DNA testing, DNA-based ancestry research or DNA-match research. If you have taken or want to take a DNA test, you may ask for DNA-based research from our forensic genetic genealogist, using the request form at botsonthejob.com/dna-research-request.html. Asking is free and creates no obligation for you or for us. Any DNA-based research is a separate service, only if we both agree to it separately in writing, and it is not part of your subscription.
F.8 Third-party sites and accounts. The Bot points you to third-party websites and archives (for example national and state archives, passenger-list databases, grave-memorial sites and newspaper collections). Section 13 applies: we do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, fees or terms. You are responsible for your own accounts with those services and for following their terms. The Bot never signs up for, logs in to, or pays for any service on your behalf, and it never needs your passwords. Mentioning a paid service is not a recommendation to buy it.
F.9 Public records only; FamilySearch. The Bot uses public records only. It does not use FamilySearch data: FamilySearch does not allow its data to be used with AI tools without its written permission, and we do not have that permission. Please don't paste FamilySearch records into the Bot. You are welcome to use FamilySearch.org yourself under FamilySearch's own terms. Bot Dream Team™ and Bots On The Job™ are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by FamilySearch International. We do not promise any FamilySearch connection.
F.10 Your research and files. The research you do, and the tree, chart, log and letters the Bot creates for you, are yours (Section 8). Back up your files. For the Grok Bot version, we do not store them for you (Module E.3). For the web membership, we keep your private page and files while you are a member and for 30 days after you cancel, then delete them; download anything you want to keep. Do not put other people's private information into the Bot unless you have the right to.
F.11 Research method. The Bot's research method was designed with our forensic genetic genealogist. Subscribing to the Bot does not give you a consultation, review, or any professional relationship with that genealogist or with us, and no person reviews your tree or output.
F.12 All sales final. Section 6 and Module E.4 apply: each monthly payment is final and non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise (see F.1A for cancelling). Not finding a record, an ancestor or an answer is not a defect and is not a ground for a refund.
F.13 Everything else. Sections 10 (Disclaimer of Warranties), 11 (Limitation of Liability), 12 (Indemnification), 17 (Time Limit to Bring Claims), 18 (Binding Individual Arbitration) and 19 (Governing Law and Venue) apply to the Bot.
